Spooky fans may enjoy Otis Jiry's Scary Stories Told in the Dark: A Horror Anthology Series. The podcast is an auditory entrance to a realm of terror, oddities, and things that crawl in the night. Listeners may experience frights and thrills during each episode's tale.

Host Otis Jiry's rumbling laugh warns listeners that he's not a grandfather. "We don't do bedtime stories," he says. If that's what listeners hope for, they're in the "wrong place." The voice actor, narrator, and broadcaster can send chills down the spine of his listeners. Jiry describes himself as having a "unique" voice. His deep and gravelly tone can invoke either Southern charm or terror. The podcast has more of the latter, as Jiry reads every tale with flair.

In each podcast episode, Jiry performs one or more scary stories. In one, Jiry reads Kyle Harrison's "Not By Choice." The tale teaches readers that they should listen to warnings.

The protagonist grew up poor, went to church every Sunday, and came from a good Belfast family. He was 12 years old when the Troubles came. This fact is no excuse to tell his story, the man says. He should keep it a secret. But it's time to clear his conscience after half a century. What happened to the Irish teen when soldiers captured him? What was the shadow demon that attacked the soldiers and set him free?

Halloween fans may enjoy Brian Martinez's and Jasper DeWitt's stories. The "We Want Treats" episode shares two tales about the autumnal holiday. Listeners learn about the dangers of rituals and a man who doubts Halloween's power. In "Feeding Time" by Samuel Jack, Jiry narrates four accounts of beasts, strange fog, parasites, and cabins in the woods.

When introducing each episode, Jiry taunts listeners with the question, "Who needs sleep anyway?" Indeed, the podcast's series of terrifying stories may keep listeners awake at night.
