Our Editor's Take

The Mostly Horror podcast focuses on the horror genre in all media. Hosts Sean Parker and Steven Goldberg interview artists, gamers, producers, and even fans. Fans-turned podcasters themselves, the longtime friends explore horror in film, books, TV, and more. It's scary how much they know.

Parker's horror voyage began at age 10. He walked in on his older cousin's movie party and got an eyeful of the film Scream. Scarred in a bad way but also in a good way, he couldn't stop watching. Goldberg's fixation didn't start until later, but the friends' shared interest grew. They watched together, then exchanged thoughts. Eventually, they together created the Mostly Horror podcast.

The Mostly Horror podcast features things horror fans may get excited to hear. The pair chats about topics like zombie film history. They might focus on horror-themed game releases. They also discuss TV adaptation wins and fails. There's a drive to figure out what the issues mean to horror. Listeners appreciate that they share candid opinions. Say a streaming service's new sharing rules or content offerings are stupid. These guys aren't afraid to call them out. They go into how those changes affect horror.

Sure, the tone gets silly sometimes. There's frequent giggling and digressions (hence the “mostly” in the title). But they are inspired by horror. Best of all, the longtime-friend hosts aren't afraid to put each other on the spot with questions like, “Did you cry?” (During a horror movie! ... Both have.) But that casualness is welcome amidst so much free-flowing knowledge on, well, Mostly Horror.
