Lauryn Hill | Where Are They Now? | 2021 | The Miseducation Of What Happened

Before They Were Famous

10-09-2021 • 11 mins

If being endlessly imitated and sampled by some of the biggest rappers in the world is an acknowledgment for a career well spent, then Lauryn Hill, despite only having one solo-album credit to her name, never has to doubt the impact she made in her chosen field. Take for instance her track “Ex-Factor”, a song that’s been sampled by the likes of Drake in “Nice for What” AND Cardi B in “Be Careful”. After she left her early musical group, The Fugees, Lauryn became one of the most famous singers in the world with the release of her debut solo album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill”. That project went eight-times Platinum in no time flat and netted her a reported income in the $40 Million range. But Lauryn was never really someone who sought out the Superstar lifestyle. Instead, what followed her breakthrough success would be more than two decades of messy headlines painting her as unreliable and, quite frankly, a pain to work with.
